It holds up really well for me. It is the best paint for cement statues Just as long as you base coat your statue properly, most any exterior latex paint should work. Also be sure to put a sealer on top of your paint for added protection, plus it makes it look nicer.

What Type of Paint Not To Use

This is just my opinion. I don’t care for semi-gloss or enamel paints. They smear and really don’t coat well on the statue as well as flat latex acrylic paint does. Never use spray paint for your statues. It doesn’t hold up at all in my experience. When the statue gets hot from being in the sun, it fades and chips. Flat exterior acrylic latex is the way to go. Its done well for me and I been making and painting statues for a long time.

Here is a video of another guy, who knows his stuff, dry brushing using acrylic paints. Subscribe to his channel, he has a lot of helpful videos for a beginner.
