Concrete Statue Sealer For Statues [The Best Brand To Buy]

Concrete Statue Sealer

Using a concrete statue sealer is simple and cheap to do and is very effective. Sealing your painted concrete statue is a really good way to add protection for your painted concrete statue, use a clear enamel spray. The clear gloss spray will add a shiny coat over top over your paint and help protect your paint on the statue. Use it outside, it does have a strong smell. Here is what I use. Krylon Colormaster Crystal Clear Gloss Spray (Link will take you to Amazon) or you could use a brush on sealer.

Most kinds of “wet look” sealer will do fine on your statue. I like gloss sealers. They make the statue look really nice. Just look for a non yellowing UV resistant gloss sealer. You can get them in quarts or gallons, depending on how much you want to do. These type of sealers go a long way and can be found locally at hardware stores. You can use this one or something similar to it. Rainguard International CU- 0101 Seal Acrylic Urethane Coating High Gloss 1 gal  (Link will take you to Amazon) I personally use it as my first choice over the spray sealer and have no problems and it’s non toxic.

Even though you don’t really need to use a sealer on your painted concrete statue, I highly recommend it because it really helps make it look good and will help protect your top coat of paint from the elements.

Spray on sealer is the best one to use for small projects. It should be used outdoors or in a well ventilated area. It has a nasty flammable smell to it, so don’t use it near a fire or while smoking or you and your statue are going to turn black :). If you breathe in too much of the fumes, you’ll take a trip and never leave the farm, not recommended. Should only need one or 2 coats. 1 does fine for me but adding another after the first coat dries won’t hurt it.

The brush on sealers that I use is water based. Much safer to work with. Easy to clean up and no nasty smell while you are using it. I use at least 2 coats of it, 3 if it is a birdbath lid, for a little more protection.

Conclusion

Putting sealer over top your painted statue will help the paint last longer, plus it’ll give the cement piece an attractive glossy look. In the end, that’s what you want, a great looking concrete lawn ornament that will last.

Never put sealer on the bottom of your concrete statue, that way the concrete can “breath”
